Do you ever feel like the radio plays songs that reflect your thoughts? I've heard that a lot, but I've never really taken it all that seriously. I almost never listen to the radio, but lately I have been and the radio has just spewed songs that know all my feelings. Maybe I'm just paying closer attention, it's weird though. I wonder if it has any significance...
Most modern music consists of one night stays, getting a buzz, or feelin like nobody can understand what your going through and your in the right. I think the reason so many of these song are popular is because many people an relate to them and find that music to be some kind of source they can use to identify their feelings.
ReplyDeleteI think that mainstream music is slowly becoming better though. The internet has given many great artists a springboard to national (and often international) attention and has added to the competition of it all. I was talking to one of my friends about this just the other day. We have many new artists that are very good and stray from the traditional shitty pop norms. Artists like Lorde, Kendrick Lamar, Frank Ocean, OFWGKTA, etc. will eventually create a new norm and allow music to mature.
